Botswana Minerals Launches Phase 1 Exploration Programme at Ngamiland Copper Licences

London- and Botswana-listed Botswana Minerals has commenced its Phase 1 exploration programme at its highly prospective copper licences in Ngamiland, where the company controls significant land holdings in the underexplored north-eastern extension of the Damara Belt.

The immediate objective of the programme is to refine and prioritise the most promising exploration targets across the licence package, while defining geophysical survey priorities that will support the identification of high-confidence drilling locations.

The outcome of Phase 1 is expected to be a technically ranked portfolio of exploration opportunities supported by a clearly defined geophysical targeting framework.

This structured approach will enable subsequent field programmes and drilling campaigns to be executed with greater precision and confidence.

According to company chairperson John Teeling, the exploration strategy is focused on identifying commercially viable copper deposits in a jurisdiction where the company has extensive operational experience.

“Our objective is to identify significant copper deposits in Botswana, where we have more than 25 years of operational experience.

Our artificial intelligence-driven exploration work has enabled Botswana Minerals to secure highly prospective copper ground,” he said.

Teeling added that the next phase will involve integrating additional geological and geophysical data into the company’s analytical models to further refine drilling targets.

“Enhanced data processing and more precise target definition are expected to improve the probability of success in future drilling programmes,” he said.

The initiative reflects growing exploration interest in Botswana’s emerging copper provinces, as global demand for the metal continues to rise in response to electrification, renewable energy expansion and broader energy transition trends.
